We talked about this about three weeks ago on the blog. But now the Orlando Business Journal is reporting it as officially announced. What do you think? Is this new DVC offering a property you’d like to own? The Polynesian resort is one of the original opening day resorts in Walt Disney World, and is a favorite of many. There are certainly pros and cons of a DVC program being installed here, but the overall benefits and amenities it brings could turn out to be a plus to all who stay there. Here is the article below as reported:

Walt Disney World is building more Vacation Club timeshares at its Polynesian Resort Hotel.

“The planned development project at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, when completed, will join Disney Vacation Club’s 12 other properties, including The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, scheduled to open Oct. 23,” said a Disney news release. “Construction on the Polynesian project began this month, and completion is estimated to be in 2015. In addition to the Disney Vacation Club project, other guest areas within Disney’s Polynesian Resort will undergo refurbishment. More information and project details will be shared at a later date.”

There were no details on how many units were being added, but it now allows the company to market the Disney Vacation Club spots along Walt Disney World’s monorail system.

So props to Tikimanpages.com, which wrote a blog back in August that said the project would “be taking 143 rooms out of inventory at some point when they close Tahiti to be turned into [Disney Vacation Club]” portions.

This new addition provides more rooms for Walt Disney World to attract more tourists to Central Florida, which will help other area businesses and help continue to grow the region’s $32 billion tourism industry.

This is a developing story, check back later for more.
